Tsukuba Museum (Tsukuba)

Information

Three times each year, the Tsukuba Museum hosts exhibitions introducing outstanding works of art from both inside Japan and out. During the rest of the year, its rooms are rented out by personal and group exhibitors.

The Tsukuba Museum is located inside the ARS Tsukuba Culture Hall. The Tsukuba Culture Hall is a composite facility consisting mainly of the Museum, managed by Ibaraki Prefecture, and the Tsukuba City Central Library, managed by the city.

Transportation

By train and bus:

Take the Tsukuba Express Railway bound for Tsukuba from Akihabara station and get off at Tsukuba station, the last stop.

Take a Kantetsu bus bound for Tsukuba University Chūō from the JR Tsuchiura station's west exit or JR Hitachi-no-Ushiku station, and get off at Tsukuba Center. It takes about 30 min.

By express bus:

Take an express bus bound for Tsukuba Center from the Yaesu south exit of Tōkyō station and get off at Tsukuba Center. It takes 70 min.

By car:

10 minutes from Tsuchiura interchange on the Jōban Expressway. Use the Tsukuba parking area "south #2" (2-hour free parking tickets are available at the reception desk).

Handicapped parking is also available, located on the east side of the Museum.

Admission fees

Admission fees may vary depending on the exhibition.

Open

From 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last admission 4:30 p.m.)

Days closed

Every Monday (except when Monday is a national holiday, in which case the museum is closed the following Tuesday).
