What should I do in the event of an earthquake?
The biggest shock will stop within a minute. Stay calm.
* Take shelter in a safe place, under a desk or table or in a doorway.
* Don't rush out of your house as there is a great danger of falling objects.
* Extinguish all sources of fire quickly.
* Secure an escape route by opening a door.
* Never use an elevator.
* Avoid narrow alleys, ditches, cliffs and riversides.
* Listen to the radio or watch television to obtain news and accurate information.
* Don't listen to rumors.
* When safe to go outside, move to the closest evacuaction area.
