Is there a special application process for foreign students entering the Japanese education system?
In Ibaraki, the number of foreigners is increasing. With that, the amount of foreign school-age children is also increasing. The Board of Education in your city, town, or village will be able to give you information on the Japanese schooling system.
When foreign students transfer into Japanese schools, their grade status in the Japanese school system will be determined by several factors:
* Their age,
* Their Japanese language ability,
* Their level in other subjects.
In the case of a grade status lower than the age, student will be taught properly to ensure catching up to their own age group.
If you need more information, please contact the Board of Education in your city, town, or village.
With regard to public high schools, please contact the school you would like to attend individually.
