Where can I find information in English in Tsukuba?

Carly Bode, International Affairs Division

The Tsukuba Information Center and Ibaraki Prefectural Government Tsukuba Office

Tsukuba Information Center started to operate in 1983 as a facility to offer information about Tsukuba Science City, a city in Ibaraki Prefecture where national reseach and educational institutes and high-technology companies are concentrated.

A High-Definition television, a multi-screen video projector, and other visual equipment have been provided to introduce visitors from all over the world and Japan to Tsukuba.

Furthermore, the Ibaraki Prefectural Tsukuba Office was established 1989 by the Ibaraki Prefectural Government to provide information about Ibaraki.

It has also set up the International Exchange Room to help foreign residents and to improve international relations through Ikebana classes and other activities.

Tsukuba International Exchange Room holds Ikebana classes, Chado classes, Japanese language classes, and a coffee hour for foreign residents and Japanese to understand Japanese culture and to get to know each other better. Foreign newspapers and magazines in a variety of language, as well as an information board, are available for daily living. This is a friendly place where you can meet other people. Please feel free to come and join us.
