In accordance with the Labor Standard Law, employers are under an obligation to pay compensation for medical treatment or for non-attendance when an employee suffers from sickness or injuries arising out of duty at work. In addition, the Workmen's Accident Compensation Insurance Law was enacted also for the purpose of aiding employers, since employers may not be able to fully provide compensation to their workers in the face of a major accident.
Every employer who employs more than one employee, regardless of whether he/she is a part-time worker or a student worker, is under an obligation to participate in this workmen's accident compensation insurance, and the full amount of premiums is borne at the employer's expense.
When a worker suffers from injuries or sickness arising out of duty or is involved with an accident on the way to his/her workplace, he/she is entitled to various benefits. For further details, make inquiries to the nearest Labor Standards Inspection Office
