Travel Vaccinations
Living in Japan is great because it's only a hop step and a jump away from so many neighboring countries. South East Asia, the Pacific, Oceania can be reached in only a few hours! Christmas and New Years is a great time to travel overseas as most schools are on holiday and domestic travel in Japan is a nightmare at this time of the year.
One thing that many people forget about is that it's very easy to get sick while traveling. Don't forget to keep all your vaccinations up to date so you don't spend half of your holiday in hospital. Just because you are in Japan and you may not speak much Japanese is not a good enough excuse to avoid this crucial preparation.
The following is a list of useful words to use when talking to your doctor. There is also a table as to what you should be inoculated against. Below that, there is a list of number of hospitals and clinics in and around Ibaraki that do travel vaccinations.
Please note, vaccinations are not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme and must be paid for up front in full.
Happy and healthy traveling!
