The Moemon Nagata family were a people working in the gold mines of Kurokawa in Koushuu. During their stay in the Hitachi province, they engaged into irrigation projects which they conducted by using technical skills much ahead of their time. From there, following generations of the same family carried out many irrigation construction plans for inlet dams and ponds such as the Tatsunokuchi dam, the Iwasaki dam or the Oba dam. They were also appointed to their maintenance.
