Hi, I hope you are not getting dehydrated because the heat in Japan is not really forgiving. I should know, last month I was the victim of natsubate‰Äƒoƒe, or sunstroke. I was lucky I got my neck iced quickly and drank heaps of water as soon as I felt dizzy, disoriented. Don't wait for the symptoms to come. Drink water. The shade is not enough, contrary to what many people think.

Now, very sad and exciting news at the same time. First of all, Jonathan is leaving the International Affairs Division and going back to California to study translation and interpreting techniques. We will all be missing him very much since he was not only a very competent co-worker I personally enjoyed joking around with in Japanese. He is also very good with computers and did a lot on this website, and it is obviously harder for us now to update it without the fear of breaking everything. But we'll ganbaruŠæ’£‚é(do one's best) and keep it alive.

Second of all, we are welcoming a new co-worker from Texas, Jeffrey. We're losing a "Jon", but we're gaingin a "Jeff". Both names start with the same letter, so the transition should be good!

Thirdly, Amber is staying for another year!!! Yeah---! The first year was a bit of just getting used to my job and figuring things out, so I promise I will write more articles from now on. Stay tuned!

Thank you for your questions and kind words through e-mail. They are proof we are helping out some of you out there. We also always welcome contributions (articles about an event you've been to, a story you would like to share etc...
