Ishioka Festival (Ishioka City)
Ishioka Festival―one of Kantō's three greatest festivals―is held annually from September 14 to 16. Here visitors can enjoy a parade featuring the famed Lion Dance, along with festival floats and o-mikoshi portable shrines, of which only a few are allowed to bear special chrysanthemum emblems.
Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition (Tsuchiura City)
The Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition is one of Japan's three most famous fireworks events. It is held annually on the first Saturday of October over the River Sakura. Pyrotechnics experts from all over the country gather to compete at this spectacular event, filling the night sky with massive sweeps of color.
