Ibaraki prefecture was born, and Tessyu Yamaoka became as the first prefectural governor(as Ken-rei). Prefectural government was settled in Mito-castle.

5th(1872)

Prefectural government was moved to the behind at the Koudou-kan.

8th(1875)

Ibaraki prefecture was merged creating what is present Ibaraki prefecture.

12th(1879)

The first election took place, and the prefectural government meeting was opened.

15th(1882)

At San-no-maru, Mito-city, there was built the prefectural government office. It was made of wooden and had 2 floors.

40th(1907)

Electric power light came to Mito-city

Resident's Day
in Ibaraki prefecture
This is the day for wishing our development and peaceful life, and Knowing our history and tradition.
Since November 13th 1871, we have been used 'Ibaraki' for calling our prefecture. Then we desided to establish the Resident's  Day on March 30th 1968.
The present government building The present government building was built up in 1999 for the people who live in this prefecture could have relax in the lot of green environment as the relaxation place.
On the surface, there are 25th floors and there are 2 floors in the underground. Almost 15 hectare area, there are government building, the parliament building, prefectural Police Administration office and so on.
