There are the prefectural governor and members of assembly in the prefectural government, and they are working individually and also cooperate each other for keeping the resident's safe and comfortable life. In the prefectural office, there are about 8000 people working. They are divided into many divisions, such as department of General affairs, department of Project, department of Life-Environment, department of Welfare & Health, department of Commerce & Labor, department of Agriculture, Forestry &Fishery and department of Engineering.

Their terms as the member is Every 4 years, they have the election to be chosen as the representatives of their district, and they are coming from 35 constituency in Ibaraki. The assembly has regular meeting and extraordinary meeting. The regular meeting is usually opened every February, June, September and December. And the extraordinary meeting opens when it is necessary to have.
