About the Child Guidance Center

　Founded on the basis of the Child Welfare Law, the child guidance center accepts any type of consultation relevant to a child aged under 18, from anyone including the child, family, school teachers and local residents.

　The child guidance center is a specialized counseling institution designed to search for solutions and solve problems with the hope of supporting the healthy growth of all children.

We handle the following types of consultation cases.

• Situations in which a child cannot lead a normal life at home due to sickness, death, disappearance or divorce of a parent or guardian.
• Situations in which the child’s human rights are at stake due to child abuse or other reasons.
• Behavioral concerns such as a selfishness, restlessness, difficulty in making friends, bullying, refusal to go to school, and nervous habits including tics and bedwetting.
• Situations in which a child experiences delayed intellectual development, motional disability, delayed language development, frail health or exhibits signs of autism.
• Situations in which a child is involved in antisocial conduct, such as running away from home, stealing, violence, sexual activity and drug use.
• Situations in which an adult wishes to become a foster parent.

Receiving Consultations

• Consultation cases are accepted at each local child guidance center.
• Opening hours:Monday to Friday, 8:30 am ~ 5:15 pm
  It is advisable to make an appointment in advance to avoid long waits.
• Consultations are available in urgent cases (e.g. abuse cases) at Child Guidance Centers on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays (including New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day), and during the evenings.
• All consultations are strictly confidential.
• Consultations are free of charge.
